Generic Substitution in Primary Care

A DH consultation has been published proposing to allow the dispensing of generic medicines instead of proprietary medicines in primary care, that is, community pharmacies. Prescribers will remain free to insist on a proprietary product where the generic one would not be appropriate. Consultation closes on 30th March 2010.
