New law: The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Registration of Regulated Activities) Regulations 2009 (SI No 660) prescribes the activities that are to be regulated by the Care Quality Commission in England . These are broadly healthcare services provided by NHS Trusts, PCTs or other Trusts and would include pharmacy services. However, the Order excludes services commissioned by the trust but provided by a third party – which would seem to exclude community pharmacy contractors.
